Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Recently, I stayed at Disney's Contemporary Resort in the Main Tower in a water-view room. I can’t wait to tell you about my experience at this incredibly beautiful and magical Resort. This opening-day Resort has sweeping views of Bay Lake on one side and views of Magic Kingdom and Seven Seas Lagoon on the other! It is also within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom! One of the many magical extras that come with this resort is that the monorail literally travels through the building! What’s not to love? It was one of two opening day resorts when the Magic Kingdom opened on October 1st, 1971! A historic building, for sure! Recently, it was re-themed to The Incredibles, and while it is noticeable in the room, it also is tastefully done! Some of the popular dining spots are Chef Mickey’s, Steakhouse 71, and California Grill. There are also some fun shopping options for those who are looking to spend some time finding those memorable take-home treasures.

One of the biggest perks of this resort is that you can walk to Magic Kingdom. After the fireworks are over and everyone rushes to the transportation options outside of the park, there’s nothing more convenient than being able to walk back to your resort, skipping the mad dash to the Express Monorail or Ferry Boats. There are three monorail resorts at Disney World. The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian Resort, and The Contemporary. All three are stunning and special in their own way. Yet, the Contemporary is iconic and infamous for being the A-Frame building that the monorail travels through with proximity to the Magic Kingdom and the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center). This resort is not to be missed. There’s a bus to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios and the option to go to the TTC from the Contemporary and switch to the Epcot Monorail, which takes you straight to Epcot. A very fun option indeed!

The room itself was modern and spacious. When you first enter the room, you come to the bathroom with a private water closet inside. A spacious vanity with double sinks and storage underneath. A backlit mirror with a shaving mirror as well. A Shower/Tub Combo with Disney H2O products. The main part of the room has two queen beds with 4 overstuffed pillows on each. The beds were firm yet comfortable. I felt supported and have to say, after a 12-14 hour day in the parks, you deserve a luxurious bed. There was a lot of storage space, including drawers inside of the closet. A beverage cooler, a coffee and tea station, and a patio or balcony. A safe and steamer inside of the closet area. There’s also a sofa bed with a movable table—plenty of charging and USB outlets in the room. However, I always recommend bringing a charging station of your own. You can watch my video on Resort Room Essentials here!

The Contemporary has an amazing pool and kids’ splash pad area, as well as a poolside bar and cabanas that are available to rent for the day. The views of Bay Lake from the pool are not to be missed. Outside activities for the entire family include movies under the stars and a campfire with Smores. There are jogging trails, boat rentals, and fishing. One of the specialty options at the Contemporary Resort is the ability to charter a private watercraft and set sail on a relaxing specialty cruise from the marina. A perk of having a professional travel advisor on your side is that we take care of all of these reservations and bookings for you. So, all you have to do is show up for the magic.

Being on the monorail is a huge perk. It allows you to travel between the 3 Monorail resorts easily, which opens up your dining options and shopping excursions. One of the fun options for cocktail and non-spirited partakers is doing a monorail crawl. This entails traveling to the lounges at each monorail resort. Order an appetizer and a fun cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage at each stop. It is a fun experience with many options to choose from. Every single monorail resort is stunning and unique in its own way and theming. So there’s no shortage of fun and experiences to be had. Take your time strolling and exploring the different Resorts.

The biggest perk of this resort is the proximity to the Magic Kingdom. If the Magic Kingdom is the park you want to spend most of your time at, then this is the resort to consider. If you have small children who need to go back to the resort for nap time, or you want the convenience of being close to your resort, there’s nothing better than being able to grab the resort monorail and be the first stop from the Magic Kingdom. I absolutely loved my time at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and can not wait to bring my friends and family to this stunning resort one day. I think you will absolutely LOVE it, and I can’t wait to help you get there!
